Beams have been mortised into posts,
no obtrusive brackets or fixings in the frame work. Gable has
been designed to brace the structure, therefore no ugly straps
or collar ties required.
This one has been affectionately
named 'The Chapel' and was booked for an engagement party before
it was finished!
The door on the ground was the client's
inspiration. The fence was bowed and leaning horribly so a facade
was constructed in front.
I suggested the client remove the broken glass and put a planter
box or a painted scene on the other side. She was thinking of
a mirror but really liked the idea of a scene. She painted a
scene as if you could walk through the doors, then through a
garden arbour to a body of water. Great effect!
The photo of the 'new' bathroom
on the right was taken over 7 years after I finished the job
(built with a large spa tub before water restricitons). It is
still in excellent condition, and the client is still very happy
with their light-filled bathroom with its extra-large shower
base!
The client wanted to replace these
drooping, warped doors (as well as the wallpaper!) but had a
very small budget. I fitted new doors within the existing framework.
The doors have hidden tip catches to create a smoother, less
obtrusive wall of cupboards.
Some of Shane's verstility and examples of his attention to detail
are shown in these images.
